Lightweight marble consists of the combination of a honeycomb core (such as aluminum, polycarbonate, foam, etc.) with a natural stone slab, reduced to a thickness of 1 cm, 5mm, or 3mm.
This technical solution allows for the reduction of the material's weight while maintaining its strength (provided by the honeycomb) and lightness, making it suitable for a variety of projects where both durability and reduced weight are required.
This system is often used in the nautical industry, elevators, furniture cladding, or for installing large-format slabs.
By using a specific translucent honeycomb panel, it is also possible to backlight stones that, due to their higher density at greater thicknesses, would not be suitable for this purpose.

This type of floor creates an empty space (called a "cavity") between the floor surface and the underlying one, which is useful for the passage of technological systems such as wiring, pipes, or ventilation systems.
